Imperial College London

Imperial College London is one of the UK’s leading universities and has around 6,000 staff and 11,000 students spread over 20 disciplines at seven campuses. Marketing and communications material is produced or updated every day in the form of flyers, posters, brochures, presentations and web-pages.

Over the years, they had built up a collection of 20,000 images, but these were stored across CDs and local hard drives, and were only directly accessible to three members of staff. This created a bottleneck for other people in getting access to the images, as staff and students couldn’t search for images themselves. It also resulted in inefficiencies in finding the right images as they were not all stored in a central location, let alone individually tagged with keywords, captions, etc.

The college now uses Brandworkz® which gives everybody with a college login access to the images in the relevant formats and with the right permissions.

We also run a general brand guidelines website for the college (produced in collaboration with branding agency FutureBrand who did the graphic design). This gives staff and third parties access to general and specific branding documents, as well as access to all permutations of their logo, accessed through our intuitive Logo Finder feature.

Technical info:
Brandworkz® is installed in a 3-tier setup with the web application installed on one server, the SQL database on a separate SQL Server machine, and the asset repository stored on a central SAN storage array.All logins are authenticated through their Active Directory server, effectively eliminating all user administration tasks.
